The young son of a member of Shu's resistance movement against the Holy Emperor. Ryo offered his hospitality to Kenshiro, Bat, and Lin when they visited Shu's hideout, giving his own food to Shu and pretending he'd eaten his share. When Ryo's father arrived at the hideout with a container of bread, Ryo was the first one to eat a loaf. However, the bread was already poisoned by Souther's men, and although Shuh detected the poison in time to warn the rest of his people, it was already too late for Ryo. Kenshiro attempted in vain to save Ryo, but the effect of the poison took hold of his body and the child died in his father's arms.

    TV Series[edit | edit source]

In the anime, Kenshiro manages to save Ryo in time by striking a vital point that counteracts the effects of the poison.
