Eighteen-hundred years ago, in China, during the "Three Kingdoms" era, the Hokuto fist was split up amongst the three clans of Liu, Sun, and Cao, thus becoming known as the Hokuto Sanka Ken (北斗三家拳, Big Dipper Three Families Fist).
