==Who is Ryū's Mother?==
==Trivia==
Hokuto no Ken fans in Japan obsess over who is the mother of Ryū.  None of the manga or anime have ever explained it, officially there is no answer.  Fans have fingered practically every female character in the manga.  Here are the fan theories:
* Despite several possible theories in both the original manga and spin-off material, Ryu's mother remains unconfirmed.
:(Note: These are FAN theories.  They are NOT official, and most don't really make sense...)
*A concubine: Probable, but the least popular theory.
*Yulia: The most popular choice in the '80s, but probably the most unlikely.  Fans claim that Buronson was going to have her be the mother, but Shonen Jump wouldn't let him.  But these fans can't seem to prove that Buronson ever said this.  Adding fuel to the fire is the 2008 Kenshirō Den movie in which Yulia's dialogue hints she may be pregnant.  But Yulia never loved Raoh and Raoh killed Usa for suggesting that he take advantage of her.
*Tō: The fan theory is that she and Raoh actually had some sort of relationship.
*Reina: A character created in 2006, Reina at first seemed to be the answer to this long-held question.  She was a childhood friend of Raoh's that loved him.
*Eva: A character from Rei Gaiden: Sōkoku no Garō. She says outright that she had slept with Raoh.
*Sakuya: A character created in 2008 for the Ten no Haoh anime, Sakuya also loved Raoh.
