A Cry from the Heart is the first chapter of the Hokuto no Ken manga.

In the original Weekly Jump serial, the opening page depicting the Nuclear holocaust was followed by a two-page spread of Kenshiro standing in front of a ruined cityscape. This spread was omitted from the Jump Comics version, but was restored in later editions.
The Weekly Jump publication of the story also had the second chapter announced under the title King no Gyakushū (KINGの逆襲). This title wouldn't used until the fourth chapter.
The final panel of the chapter had Kenshiro mistakenly drawn without the seven scars on his chest.
