Fudou of the Mountains (山のフドウ, Yama no Fudō) is a major supporting character and a member of the Nanto Goshasei. Fudou was once feared as a terrible outlaw called "Fudou the Ogre" (悪鬼のフドウ, Akki no Fudō) who saw no meaning in life because he was an orphan, until his meeting with Yuria.

Manga & TV Series

In the past, he once attacked the Hokuto dojo, where he terrified a young Raoh. Sometime afterwards, his heart was opened by the child Yuria, who defended a group of puppies from Fudou's rampage and taught him the value of life. From this act of courage, Fudou has changed his nature and became known as 'Fudou of the Mountains', one of the five Nanto Goshasei and guardian of the Last Nanto General. Since Fudou never knew his own parents, he began adopting the young orphans from across the wasteland.

After trembling before Kenshiro's Musō Tensei, Raoh decided to overcome the demon from his past and challenged Fudou to battle. Raoh ordered his own men to shoot him if he took one step back. Fudou endured an onslaught from Raoh, driven by the love of his children. This profound love and sadness caused Raoh to recoil in fear, but his men fired at Fudou instead and killed him, much to Raoh's fury and shame.

Appearance

Fudou was a hulking, round, but very muscular man, even larger in complexion than Raoh himself with somewhat tanned skin, who usually dressed in white clothings with a belt strapped across his chest, a green sleeveless coat, a pair of dark green loose pants, and a pair of brown boots.

His Battle Armor consisted of a set of spiked shoulder protectors tied across his uncovered chest with a pair of belts in a crossed formation that ended on his waist. Fudou's arms and legs were protected with a set of armor and spiked plates, with his right arm having more cover. Fudou used a head protector that covered his forehead and the middle of his upper head.

Personality

Originally Fudou was a heartless brute, due to having grown without parental love, he developed very twisted, nihilistic ideas of life, and believed humans to be like vermin, having no respect for life in general, which allowed him to engage in acts of violence and ransacking without a shred of remorse. His cruelty and brutality along with his unmatched power, were so infamous that he was nicknamed the Ogre, with his name causing fear whenever he went.

It wasn't until he met a young Yuria who shielded puppies from his rampage, that he begun to understand the value of life. Ever since, Fudou reformed into a gentle person who used his strength to protect both Yuria with the utmost loyalty, and become a loving guardian to several orphaned children, giving them the protection and love that he himself had not gotten. As a member of the Nanto Goshasei, the now reformed Ogre, was now a highly respected, dutiful man.

Fudou was shown to be a fairly carefree person, almost always smiling and laughing, even at jokes thrown at his expense.

Fighting Style

Fudou uses an unnamed fighting style which centers on the use of his titanic size and herculean strength to overwhelm his foes with unmatched power. His might was so great that when assaulting the Hokuto dojo he was easily capable of defeating the students with mere flicks of his fingers, and left a younger Raoh paralyzed with fear.

In the present when Raoh attempted to test Fudou's strength by having a henchman attack him, Fudou competely obliterated the assailant's arm with a gentle press of his hand, and crushed his head purely through flexing his arm.

During his fight with Raoh, Fudou displayed inhuman endurance, being on the receiving end of Raoh's brutal attacks, yet remain fighting, and even showed strength comparable to that of Raoh, by using his muscles to entrap Raoh's hands and injure Raoh through bearhugging him.

Despite being at a disadvantage against Raoh, Fudou's love for his adopted children allowed him to instill fear in Raoh. In the end Raoh would be unable to truly defeat Fudou as his men interfered on the fight against his orders.

• "Fudō" is Japanese for Acala.
• A character called Fudo and wearing Fudou's demon armor almost exactly appears in the 1987 Capcom game: Tiger Road as a first stage boss.
