Ramon Kasumi (霞 羅門), also known as Ryūken (リュウケン), was Kenshirō's adoptive father and the 63rd successor of Hokuto Shin Ken. Ryūken successfully battled with Kōryū for successorship. He was the sifu who adopted and trained Raoh, Toki, Jagi, and Kenshirō. After choosing Kenshirō as the next successor, Ryūken was slain by Raoh, largely by chance, as he suffered a temporary heart attack just when he was about to seal Raoh's fist after failing to prevent his misuse of Hokuto Shin Ken. Kenshirō did not know the real cause of Ryūken's death, having been told that Ryūken died from illness, until Toki revealed the shameful secret during their first battle. Both Kenshirō and Raoh remember a lot of Ryūken's teachings whenever they are in difficult situations. Ryūken was chosen as successor and he later adopted Raō, Toki, Jagi, and Kenshirō. He named Kenshirō after his older brother, Kenshirō Kasumi, because they both had a Big Dipper-shaped birthmark.
