Toyo (トヨ)

Voiced by: Reiko Suzuki (TV series), Seiko Fujiki (Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu movie series)

Nicknamed "Grannie", she is the woman that raised the young Bat among other orphans. Although, she may not seem to get along with Bat, the two are very fond of each other in reality. She tries to dig out a well at her village, but isn't successful until Kenshiro arrives to break off the rock plate that's blocking the water. After Kenshiro leaves, Jackal attacks the village takes Toyo and the orphans captive. Kenshiro comes back and rescue them, but she dies from the stab wound given by Jackal. Before dying Bat finally shows his true feeling to Toyo by calling her "mother", she passed away with a smile on her face. Toyo appears in the movie Raoh Den: Jun'ai no Shō, where she is renamed Martha (マーサ, Māsa).
