Nuclear War of 199X (199X年の核戦争, senkyū-hyakukyūjū-ekkusu-nen no kakusensō)
The global nuclear war that was responsible for setting the scene for the apocalypse. It was fought between an unknown number of nations, but eventually consumed the entire Earth. The Colonel explains to Kenshiro that it was started by the General and his like-minded collaborators.

Prelude to War[edit | edit source]

In 1935, the head priest of the White Horse Temple foresaw doom in the stars. The meeting of Hokuto Shinken and Hokuto Sanka Ken in China signaled the End of the Mandate of Heaven (Chinese and Japanese: 大天命亡; pinyin: Dà tiānmìng wáng; rōmaji: Dai Tenmei bō) and ruin to the land.[1] By the 1970s, a war had already broken out in South Asia, and the world's governments and corporations were facing intense competition and demand for resources due to immense rates of consumption and their eventual shortage. The shore lands of China had been invaded by a powerful military nation and was on the verge of ruin.[2]

The War Itself[edit | edit source]

As the decades went on, global tensions remained at an all time high, and while the governments of the world poured their monetary resources into military empowerment and experimentation, civil infrastructure gradually decayed in the face of moral declination and social unrest, prompting crime and chaos to become increasingly rampant. Upon the peak of this excess turned decadence and indifference when it would become clear that war would be the inevitable option, the final solution was reached by the governments and corporations of the world in an almost mutual agreement: Global Thermonuclear War. Hoping the other sides would soon blow themselves up faster than themselves, this hasty and ill rashly thought plan soon culminated in all nations of the world launching their nuclear payload in chain reaction in offense and defense, eradicating modern civilization, the natural environment, and 80% of mankind's population along with all the fools who instigated the war in the first place. In the end, this results in the complete dissolving of Earth's nations and a new age where the strongest are only able to rule and survive.

Ryuken Gaiden - The Judgement Day[edit | edit source]

In the one-shot story Ryuken Gaiden, Jagi attacks a military base with his biker gang and the ensuing chaos leads to nuclear warfare. This story is probably not canon.
