Nuclear war almost annihilated every living being, but humanity has survived. In an era in which civilization has been destroyed and nothing is created anymore, strong men struggle to conquer what little food and resources are left. It was a world dominated by violence. Yet, in a corner of that world, there was a place called “the city of miracles,” a city named “Eden.”

Yet, in a corner of that world, there is a place called “the city of miracles,” a city named “Eden.”

Eden receives energy and water from a giant dome-shaped relic of the old world named “Sphere City,” and there is even an entertainment district. Citizen lived a comfortable life that others in this era can’t even imagine.

One day a man named Kenshiro reaches Eden at the end of his wanderings. He was the successor of [[Hokuto Shinken]], an ancient assassination art passed down from a single line of successors. The heart of this man, thought invincible, was instead filled with despair. His only hope was a rumor indicating that his long lost fiancee Yuria that he thought dead, was instead alive and in Eden.

== Differences between the manga and the game ==

    * The game adds new characters such as Jagure, Kisana, Lyra, Taruga and Nadai.
    * The game omits certain characters from the manga, such as Ryuken, Amiba, Yuda, Shu, Ryuga, Juza, Tou and Fudou.
    * Huey and Shuren have only cameo appearances in the game.
    * Lin, Bat and Mamiya have their roles completely removed in the game's story, but are still present the game's side quests.
    * The games skips the Southern Cross arc, only showing partially the events that precedes it and the battle between Kenshiro and Shin.
    * Unlike in the manga, in the game Yuria never tries to kill herself while in Shin's domain. Rather a cult is formed around her and takes her to Eden.
    * In the manga, Kenshiro wanders until he finds Mamiya's village. In the game, he investigates the cult that follows Yuria, leading him to Eden.
    * Toki never leaves Cassandra in the game's story, thus he never meets Raoh nor he is killed.
    * In the manga, Kenshiro and Rei never actually fight, neither Rei suspects that Kenshiro is his sister's kidnapper. In the game, Rei engages in combat with Kenshiro for believing he is Airi's kidnapper.
    * In the manga, Souther doesn't survive his battle with Kenshiro, while in the game he is sparred and exits the story.
    * In the manga, Kenshiro first meets Rei, faces Jagi, then meets Toki and later meets and faces Souther, while in the game he meets Toki before meeting Rei, and faces Souther before even meeting Jagi.
    * In the manga, Jagi is killed by Kenshiro and never meets Rei. In the game, Jagi manages to capture Rei and Airi, but is executed by Rei after being defeated by Kenshiro.
    * In the manga, Rei is killed by Raoh. In the game, Rei exits the story after killing Jagi, thus he never meets Raoh.
    * In the manga, Raoh dies after his second encounter with Kenshiro. In the game, They only fought once, and Raoh is spared.

    ==Trivia==
*The game's original cover art, which had been illustrated by [[Tetsuo Hara]], had to be changed for western territories due to Yuria showing too much cleavage. First run copies of the game, however, came with a reversible cover featuring the original artwork.

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, known as Hokuto Ga Gotoku (北斗が如く, Hokuto ga Gotoku, lit. "Like the Big Dipper" or "Like the North Star") in Japan, is a video game produced by Sega. The game was released for the PlayStation 4 on March 8, 2018 in Japan. It is a 3D action-adventure game by the developers of Sega's Like a Dragon series (known as Ryū Ga Gotoku in Japan, formerly known as Yakuza overseas) and features the voice cast of the Like a Dragon series portraying established Hokuto no Ken characters. Yakuza characters Jo Amon and Sotaro Komaki also appear in the game. The story takes place in an alternate universe, as Kenshiro wanders into the post-apocalyptic haven of Eden in search of his lost love Yuria.

    Story[edit | edit source]

Nuclear war almost annihilated every living being, but humanity has survived. In an era in which civilization has been destroyed and nothing is created anymore, strong men struggle to conquer what little food and resources are left. It was a world dominated by violence. Yet, in a corner of that world, there is a place called “the city of miracles,” a city named “Eden.”

Eden receives energy and water from a giant dome-shaped relic of the old world named “Sphere City,” and there is even an entertainment district. Citizens live a comfortable life that others in this era can’t even imagine.

One day a man named Kenshiro reaches Eden at the end of his wanderings. He was the successor of Hokuto Shinken, an ancient assassination art passed down from a single line of successors. The heart of this man, thought invincible, was instead filled with despair. His only hope was a rumor indicating that his long lost fiancée Yuria that he thought dead, was instead alive and in Eden.

However, Eden is closed to outsiders, and the gates block Kenshiro’s way. What will he have to do to enter Eden? What destiny awaits in his pursuit of Yuria?

Kenshiro is a man who follows his love in a mysterious city, caught in the river of fate. A new legend of the savior begins.

Differences between the manga and the game[edit | edit source]

    • The game adds new characters such as Jagure, Kisana, Lyra, Taruga and Nadai.
    • The game omits certain characters from the manga, such as Ryuken, Amiba, Yuda, Shu, Ryuga, Juza, Tou and Fudou.
    • Huey and Shuren have only cameo appearances in the game.
    • Lin, Bat and Mamiya have their roles completely removed in the game's story, but are still present the game's side quests.
    • The games skips the Southern Cross arc, only showing partially the events that precedes it and the battle between Kenshiro and Shin.
    • Unlike in the manga, in the game Yuria never tries to kill herself while in Shin's domain. Rather a cult is formed around her and takes her to Eden.
    • In the manga, Kenshiro wanders until he finds Mamiya's village. In the game, he investigates the cult that follows Yuria, leading him to Eden.
    • Toki never leaves Cassandra in the game's story, thus he never meets Raoh nor he is killed.
    • In the manga, Kenshiro and Rei never actually fight, neither Rei suspects that Kenshiro is his sister's kidnapper. In the game, Rei engages in combat with Kenshiro for believing he is Airi's kidnapper.
    • In the manga, Souther doesn't survive his battle with Kenshiro, while in the game he is sparred and exits the story.
    • In the manga, Kenshiro first meets Rei, faces Jagi, then meets Toki and later meets and faces Souther, while in the game he meets Toki before meeting Rei, and faces Souther before even meeting Jagi.
    • In the manga, Jagi is killed by Kenshiro and never meets Rei. In the game, Jagi manages to capture Rei and Airi, but is executed by Rei after being defeated by Kenshiro.
    • In the manga, Rei is killed by Raoh. In the game, Rei exits the story after killing Jagi, thus he never meets Raoh.
    • In the manga, Raoh dies after his second encounter with Kenshiro. In the game, They only fought once, and Raoh is spared.

    Trivia[edit | edit source]

    • The game's original cover art, which had been illustrated by Tetsuo Hara, had to be changed for western territories due to Yuria showing too much cleavage. First run copies of the game, however, came with a reversible cover featuring the original artwork.
    • The Japanese version is heavily censored compared to the western version. The censorship does however make deaths very similar to the anime.
    • It is possible to play the Sega Mark III game of Hokuto no Ken as a side minigame.
    • Many characters in the game share their voice actors with characters in the Like a Dragon series:
      • Takaya Kuroda, who voices Kenshiro, is the voice of Like a Dragon series general protagonist Kazuma Kiryu.
      • Kazuhiro Nakaya, voice of Shin, voiced Akira Nishikiyama, Kiryu's sworn brother turned into enemy, in the original Yakuza, its remake Yakuza Kiwami, and its prequel Yakuza 0.
