Amiba (アミバ): Voiced by: Takaya Hashi; The self-proclaimed genius, Amiba was orginally a practitioner of Nanto Sei Ken, but believing he could master any martial art in record time he turned his attention to Hokuto Shin Ken. He travelled to the Village of Miracles in order to prove his worth, but when experimenting by himself he almost killed an elderly man with his efforts. For this blunder, he was publicly rebuked by Toki, leaving the humiliated Amiba swearing revenge on both Toki and the Village of Miracles.

When Toki was imprisoned in Cassandra by Raoh, Amiba took the opportunity to exact his revenge by impersonating Toki and destroying his reputation. He rearranged his appearance to model Toki, right down to the scar on his back, and tortured martial artists and villagers with cruel "new pressure point tests", and reported these findings to Raoh. When Amiba was finally exposed as a fraud, Kenshirō used Zankai Sekihoken, causing Amiba to involuntarily walk over the edge of a high-rise building.

Gaiden material

In the manga spin-off Rei Gaiden, it was revealed that Amiba studied Nanto Suichō Ken under the master Rofu, but ultimately lost the race for successor to Rei.

Toki Gaiden covers Amiba's first visit to the Village of Miracles where he seeks out Toki to improve his already limited knowledge of acupressure. When Toki refuses to teach him and reprimands his conduct, Amiba plots against the village with the Zeed gang. He also conspires with Jagi, who helps him impersonate Toki by teaching him Hokuto Shin Ken and scarring his back with a club.

In the Ten no Haoh manga, Amiba introduces his Hokuto Shin Ken imitation style by the name Hokuda Shin Ken (北蛇鍼拳, "Needle Fist of the North Snake").

Trivia

Amiba's design was modeled after actor Christopher Lambert.
Amiba's human experimentation resemble that of Dr. Shirō Ishii and his Unit 731. He and his men referring to people as deku (木人形 wooden doll) is similar to Ishii's maruta (丸太 logs).
