Ryu (リュウ, Ryū): Kaioh's childhood pet dalmatian. Grief-stricken by the death of his mother, Kaioh vowed to forsake love and slammed his beloved dog's head into the ground, killing him instantly. Ryū was to be the first in a long line of sacrifices in order for Kaioh to attain true ruthlessness.

In the TV series, the scene was toned down so that Kaioh lets his dog drown to death instead of slamming him.
