Joker (ジョーカー, Jōkā, voiced by Shigeru Chiba in the Japanese original and Richard Cansino in the English dub) is Shin's primary henchman in the Hokuto no Ken anime TV series. He served as the staff officer of the King gang and was a master of the Nanto Shōten Ken style. His main job was to report Kenshirō's latest activities to Shin and give orders to Shin's subordinate gangs on his behalf. He was a master illusionist, who also carried an unlimited of throwing cards which were strong enough to cut through stone. He had a pet hawk, which would fly away with him whenever he needed to escape.

Joker first confronted Ken when he was ordered to stay behind Shin's old hideout while Shin relocated his gang to Southern Cross. Joker attempted to kill Ken by burning down Shin's old castle with Ken still inside, a plan which ended in failure. Afterward, Joker devised a plot with Jackal to trick Devil's Rebirth into fighting Ken. When that didn't work, Joker arranged a truce between two rival gangs, the Snakes and the Scorpions, so they could work together in fighting Ken, a plan which also failed.

When Balcom claimed that he and his men have successfully killed Ken, Joker was the only member of King unconvinced and went to the site of the battle in search of Ken's body for proof. When Joker discovered that Ken was still alive and well, he challenged for one final battle. Despite putting a fight with Ken,, Ken managed to catch up with Joker's illusions and ultimately won the battle with the Hokuto Zankai Ken. Faced with the choice of being Ken's messenger to Shin, Joker refused to do so and choose death instead.
