- Commands the 6th Division of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army in the Dutch East Indies. He is something of a mad scientist, mastering the art of Tento Seiin Ken through genetic manipulation and has turned Harto's father into a monster.
- In the anime it is shown he is a huge fan of Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, Movment IV - Allegro con fuoco.
- Also in the anime he is renamed Van Der Kolk, he have somewhat a goofy personality and differs in appearance from his manga counterpart, which bears a striking resemblance with Souther.
