Talk:Nanto Seiken

According to the Japanese Wikipedia, Nanto Sei Ken was originally called 南都聖拳 (same pronunciation, but different kanji, loosely meaning "Southern Capital Holy Fist") when the Southern Cross story arc was being published in Weekly Jump. It was only changed to 南斗聖拳 in the Jump Comics edition, probably because it contrasted with Hokuto better and also because Buronson wanted to keep the style around by introducing the six sacred fists much later. It never really made much sense that the Nanto symbol was a bloody cross or that the Southern Cross would have any meaning to the Nanto asterism. It would be nice to track down the original WJ issues (particularly 1983 #47 and #48, which feature the relevant chapters) to verify this. Arkhound (talk) 08:22, September 15, 2016 (UTC)
