Samoto (サモト): A thin, mustachioed Asura with a ducktail hairstyle and a regal appearance. Samoto sends his subordinates to raid villages to find himself a bride. Samoto has little success due to his dimwitted and violent subordinates frightening away prospective brides with their terrifying appearances and behavior. He discovers the unconscious Lin on the back of Kaioh's horse after having her Shikanhaku (死環白) vital point struck, cursing her to fall in love with the next man she lays eyes on. Samoto is grateful to finally have found a maiden and a beautiful one at that, Samoto primps up himself and plans to make her his wife.

As he waits impatiently for Lin to awaken, unknowing of the point struck, Numeri turns up and slaughters Samoto's minions before striking Samoto's head off with one finger.

Personality[edit | edit source]

In his short screentime, Samoto is shown to be vain and prim in appearance. He is very eager for a bride and assumes Lin will fall for his handsome appearance. He dislikes getting blood on his outfit and frequently beats his subordinates for their vulgar behavior.

Right before his death, Samoto identifies Numeri by name, implying he knows the man.

TV series[edit | edit source]

In the TV series, Samoto and Numeri are combined into one character bearing Numeri's appearance but with Samoto's name and sophistication.

Confusingly, a character resembling the original Samoto also briefly appears in the TV series among the minions of the "anime Samoto."

Video Games[edit | edit source]

In a Shin Hokuto Muso DLC mission, a generic Shura Commmander with long hair has some similar dialogue to Samoto. This Shura knows Lin had her Shikanhaku struck and fights Kenshiro with a martial artist fighting style.

Notes[edit | edit source]

In the DVD extras, there are model sheets for the series. There is a model sheet of Manga Samoto labeled Samoto, while the "anime Samoto" is simply labeled Numeri. This indicates at one point, Samoto and Numeri were separate characers in the anime, while the Manga Samoto's modelsheet was ultimately recycled for an extra.
- Confusingly the lookalike of manga Samoto only appears for that one particular shot, having never been seen with Anime Samoto/Numeri's men" in any prior shot. Thus his appearance could be considered an easter egg.
It is unclear if Samoto was a martial artist or not, the most combat he did was take a subordinate's pick axe and whack him with the blunt end to admonish him for his crassness.
