Geira (ゲイラ)

A fat, grotesque boss of a bounty hunter agency, who works for the Imperial Army. After promising several bounty hunters their own land if they take down the "Man with Seven Scars", Ein overhears this proposition and decides to get in on the deal.

Kenshiro appears at Geira's headquarters, where the boss watches in horror as Ein is thrashed by his opponent. With his guards abandoning him in fear, Geira deigns to fight Kenshiro himself. He attempts to hypnotize Kenshiro by spinning two pendants and breathing toxic fumes but he is thwarted by the Ganzan Ryozan Ha. Geira suffocates to death from the effects of the Zenha (喘破) vital point, before his body explodes.

Appearance

Geira is a morbidly obese bald man who has a wide mouth, a double chin, and a flabby body. He goes completely shirtless, wears a plus-shaped collar on his neck, as well as a bow tie, golden wrist bands, puffy pants, and genie-like shoes.

In the anime, his appearance was slightly altered, as he appears less grotesque, as he no longer has that much of a double chin, making the bow tie he wears more visible, and a full head of teal-blue hair, and now wears a bowtie.

Personality

Geira is an incredibly lazy man, on top of being a lecherous and hedonistic pervert as well. He is in fact so lazy, that he finds even breathing to be too much of an effort.

TV Series

In the TV series, his appearance was altered to not resemble Jabba the Hutt, making him more similar to Danny De Vito.

Video games

The manga version of Geira, although unnamed, is also used for Sega Genesis video-game of Hokuto no Ken 2. There is an anime style illustration of his manga design in the manual. In the western port Last Battle, his skin is pale green, his blood is blue and he is called "the butcher."

Shin Hokuto Muso features an unnamed generic general with Geira's dialogue and scenes. Though he refers to hypnotism, the generic version of Geira fights with a weaker version of Kenpo Goroshi like the other fat generals.

Trivia

• His appearance, lecherous personality, tendency to snack on bugs, and his role as an antagonist who relies on bounty hunters are all a reference towards the Star Wars character Jabba the Hutt.
• His death by asphyxiation, then bodily self-destruction is an example of the countless times that Kenshiro has doled out an ironic punishment to an enemy, as Geira states he finds even breathing to be too much of an effort.
