説明[edit | edit source]
A complete playthrough of Sega Ages 2500 Vol. 11: Hokuto no Ken (or "Fist of the North Star") for the PS2, released in Japan only in 2004.
This is a "reimagining" of sorts of the Sega Master System game, Black Belt, which was originally released in Japan for the Mark III as Hokuto no Ken. The original SMS version is included on the disc (and a small bit of gameplay for this game can be found at the end of the video), but the main attraction here is the 3D "remake" of the game.
What they did to this... I don't really know. It feels like a totally different game, with the typically screaming matches between static headshots pre- and post-bouts. There really isn't much strategy - walk around a three-screen wide stage punching the same three or four guys over and over, scream "Atatatatata" at a miniboss trapped in a corner, and then use all your special moves on the guy during the versus fight to conclude the stage. Pretty uninspired, fairly boring, mostly easy.
I thought it would be worthwhile to post this, though, as it really is a novelty for fans of Fist of the North Star. I just really wouldn't recommend playing it and expecting to have that great of a time :/
...and one last thing. Why couldn't the damned theme song be in the game? It'd definitely be a huge improvement over the lame soundtrack that's here, and would amp up the awesomeness a great deal. *Sigh* I guess that's why MP3 players and TV mute buttons come in handy.
