Fox (フォックス, Fokkusu): A member of the Warriors gang and Jackal's 'right-hand' man. He fights using a technique known as Chōtō Chihai Ken, in which he plays possum and then launches a surprise attack, decapitating his victims in mid-air with hidden sickles mounted on his wrists.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

He is a thuggish-looking man with a muscular build and dark hair styled in a topknot, a row of vertical scars on his forehead. He also has no eyebrows.

He wears a pair of suspenders and pants that have two tassets, a pair of spiked pauldrons (that are plain in the anime) that are furred, making them slightly resemble epaulets in a way, and a pair of long gloves with spiked bracelets that hide his sickles.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Fox is rather prideful, as he ruthlessly killed a bunch of villagers for calling him ugly and monstrous, and also has an inappropriate habit of urinating after he kills other people.

He holds no respect for the dead as he casually urinated on the corpse of one man he had recently slaughtered.

When confronted with someone far more powerful than himself, he immediately loses his cruel and irreverent attitude and behaves cowardly, but he is more than willing to trick them into letting their guard down so he can get the upper hand.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

Fox possesses high agility and speed, as he was able to kill multiple men in rapid succession faster than they can react, and possesses enough physical strength to launch himself into the air from a supine (face-up, lying down) position, with this ability of his being the basis of his Chōtō Chihai Ken style.

His weapons of choice are a pair of bracelets that have hidden sickles in them, and are sharp enough to easily decapitate the average man.

Manga & TV Series[edit | edit source]

Fox takes part in the attack on Toyo's village. When Kenshiro prepares to kill Jackal, Fox reveals he's taken two orphans as hostages. On Jackal's suggestion, Fox plants a stick of dynamite on both of the orphans in order to create a diversion for him and Jackal to escape.

Afterwards, Fox procures food from another village by playing dead and slaughtering the villagers who come to inspect his body. Fox remains unaware that Kenshiro is out for revenge, as Jackal deliberately withheld this information from Fox to use him as a tactical sacrifice.

Fox initially pretends to surrender whilst secretly preparing his trick, but Kenshiro sees through his technique. Kenshiro strikes the Shin-ichi (新一) vital point to forcibly extract the location of Jackal's whereabouts from Fox, before kicking him into a boulder where he smashes the back of his head and perishes. Kenshiro delivers Fox's corpse to the bar near Villainy Prison as a warning to Jackal and his gang.

1986 movie[edit | edit source]

In the theatrical movie, Fox is one of Jagi's underlings who terrorizes a village in Kenshiro's name. Kenshiro & Rei both happen to arrive on the scene, and Kenshiro kills Fox with a single punch.

Video Games[edit | edit source]

Fox appears as a mini-boss during Devil's stage in Fist Of the North Star for Master System.

In the Hokuto no Ken game for PlayStation Fox appears as a boss. There is an additional cutscene in the game depicting Fox whistling for Jackal's help, only to get no response.

Fox's technique is given to Outlaw in Hokuto Musō. Outlaw himself draws inspiration from Fox.

Fox himself appears in Shin Hokuto Muso as a boss in Legend mode. Fox uses the same moveset as Outlaw and wields a flail when not using Choto Chihai Ken.
