- Misumi (サモト)
- An old man who attempts to deliver a bag of seed rice to his home village in the hopes of harvesting the seeds for future generations. He is harassed by Spade and his gang, who want to eat his seeds, only to be saved by Kenshiro. Ken and Bat accompany Misumi back to his village. Afterwards, Spade attacks the place and murders Misumi in retaliation for his earlier defeat. After Spade is killed, Kenshiro buries Misumi and scatters the rice seeds over the old man's grave proclaiming that from his resting place, he will watch them grow.
TV series[edit | edit source]
- In the TV series, Misumi is renamed Smith (スミス Sumisu?). After Spade and his gang steal his seeds, Kenshiro has Bat infiltrate their hideout to retrieve them. Bat's plan to eat the seeds is foiled by Ken, who slaps him around the face to discipline him for his greed.
Video Game[edit | edit source]
- The PlayStation game for the series features Misumi reenacting his role from the manga and anime complete with his original voice actor. If Kenshiro takes too long to defeat Spade during the first battle, one of Spade's minions will kill Misumi and takes his seeds. If this happens, the second encounter with Spade is skipped and the game jumps to Bat attempting to sneak into King's hideout.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- The scene of Spade eating Misumi's seeds inspired a move of Outlaw, an original character in Hokuto Musō, based on various Outlaws in the series.
