    Manga & TV Series[edit | edit source]

He rules over a village from a cathedral with his Nanto Anshō Ken, using its bell to perform mass hypnosis on the villagers at night and turn them into mindless zombies. He possesses one of the villagers, Karen, and uses her to help kidnap Lin to use as leverage against Kenshiro.
Kenshiro ventures into Zaria's lair to rescue Lin, destroying his minions in the process. However, Zaria blackmails Kenshiro with the possessed Lin's life and hypnotizes him. Zaria resurrects his fallen minions, but before they can kill Kenshiro, Lin's cries manage to break the spell. Kenshiro takes out Zaria's hands and kicks him through the ceiling where he's crucified on the steeple and struck to death by lightning, which also destroys the cathedral while he crumbles to dust. After his death, the villagers return to their senses and the village is freed from his curse.

    Appearance[edit | edit source]

He is a bald, gaunt looking older man who has prominent cheekbones, slightly pointed ears, pointy fingernails, and a large chin. He wears a pair of glasses with round lenses that cover up his bloodshot eyes, a red afro-like wig, a purple suit, a teal cape over a pair of red shoulder pads, a pair of fingerless gloves, and a pair of dress shoes.

    Personality[edit | edit source]

Like many villains in Fist of The North Star, he is a sadistic, cruel, and power-hungry tyrant, as he took over a village and ruled it from a nearby cathedral, and hypnotized the innocent inhabitants to be his personal army. He is implied to be self conscious about his appearance, given that he covers up his baldness and his frightening-looking eyes with a wig and a pair of glasses respectively.

    Trivia[edit | edit source]

    • His hair and glasses look nearly identical to Lady Miyako from the manga and anime movie, Akira. Although the movie came out in 1988, the manga had been ongoing for several years before Zaria's episode aired.
